Book Festivities

A few of us went out on Saturday to check out the book festival..these were my favorites from the day..

We kept seeing girls in dresses and photographers...wedding dresses, military outfits.. we were confused but this girl was super cute.

There was a tent specifically for post cards.  Target was mailing postcards out for free.  I sent this one to Kate and Menan : )

What are they..like a couple or something?
Ha. My FAVORITE from the day.

Finally, you wore nice clothes.

"Finally, you wore nice clothes"...this is what my hard of hearing friend told me a few days ago.  Do I really dress that scrubby on the daily?  Ha. I've decided, here, that I could care less how I look.  The most important thing to me these days is feeling comfortable.

Recently I've been thinking a lot about a tattoo that I've been wanting to get.  I've dealt a lot with my depression over the past few years and I really faced a lot of issues two summers ago.  I know now that getting through my hardest times means trying twice as hard to push through when I'm low and not let it consume me.  Back to the "comfortable" comment,  I think its SO important to be comfortable with yourself.  It's important to understand who you are and to like that person.  Not an easy task.

In Deaf Culture we talked about our "social process"; the place that we come from, the people that we've learned from..our influences.  We have been shaped in so many different ways and are constantly in a state of change, which is totally a good thing.  But are we satisfied?  Do we like who we are in those changing moments?  I'm not really sure.

Anyways, about my tattoo... the word "delight" is my favorite.  I want to know that I'm delighting in where I'm at in life.  I want to know that I delight in myself, who I am as a person.  I want to be satisfied. Hopefully I can get this tattoo before I take off from DC...hopefully, soon.

Ultra Club.

It's been a freakin weekend.
On Friday we decided to go out to a club but everything went haywire.

Short version

took off an hour late, no Galley ID, the metro had tech. difficulties, the club line was far too long, it was already midnight....McDonalds?  yes please.

Airhead

I auditioned for a play...well, sort of.  There is a play coming up and they needed "voices" to interpret the show.  Unfortunately, they already had most of the girls they needed AND, also, unfortunately..they asked me to do a British accent.  Egh.  I'm awful at British accents.  The good news is....I learned a new sign!  "Airhead"

A mile a minute.

Gosh.  So many things have been happening, so fast.  Can I start off with saying that I got to see my gorgeous boyfriend this weekend?  It made my freakin month.  Some how, it flowed.  It worked out so easily and I got to see him; I really still don't understand how.  I'm grateful for those who contributed and made it possible...I feel like a charity.  It's a very vulnerable spot being a charity but I fully accepted it in order to have a few good moments with my guy.

Leaving PA I was dropped off at the train station, took it into Chinatown Philly, took the 'Chinese Bus' from Philly to DC and dove right back into DC life.  I walked off the bus and at 8 the city was alive.  People were still at their same hustle as they would be at day.  In a weird way, it felt good to be back.

While talking to a good friend, Daniel (also known these days as Ralphie) and taking a break from our usual "tattoo talk" I came across a site that I just love (below).  I thought this felt appropriate.

Zoo Day!

The zoo was friggin sweet.  I'm used to it costing like 15 bucks to go to the zoo back at home but in D.C. its free..who could want anything else?  Its like going to the pet store, but bigger and cooler animals.  We also spent the day walking around, going to Georgetown, eating out and riding the metro.

My favorite part was just being with people.  I've definitely made some cool new friends this semester.

I'm assuming in this shot Kaleena's explaining to Brandon that Elizabeth (the girl beside her) is Deaf. Ha.
